Where Are You Standing?

When Moses wandered through the Sinai with his father-in-law’s sheep, the most important thing he discovered was not a burning bush!  It was the presence of God.  All of us live on a three foot square plot of real estate, no matter where we go.  But is where you are standing ‘holy ground.’  After Moses’ encounter with God, everywhere he went became holy ground. Indeed from that time on the presence of God became a central feature of his personal life and his ministry for God (cf. Exodus 33:7-11, 12-33; 34:29-35; 40:34-38).  It was a legacy he would pass to his people, Israel, for generations to come, culminating in the arrival of Jesus Christ and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. God transformed the three foot square plot on which Moses was living. If Moses hadn’t turned aside, he would have been tending sheep the rest of his life, for another 40 years!  Every believer should ask themselves, “Isn’t it time I turned aside and found the transforming presence of God in my own life?”
